The Temples were locations throughout the world built by Those Who Came Before, in order to prevent the repeat of the catastrophe that had led to their extinction.
History
According to Minerva, the Temples were built by the members of her race "who knew to turn away from war" – presumably meaning those who did not fight or did not want to fight in the war between the humans and Those Who Came Before.[1]
The temples were built as a way to counteract a disaster that had once before damaged the Earth, and had killed most of the humans and Those Who Came Before. Minerva tasked the Assassin Desmond Miles (speaking to him through his ancestor, Ezio Auditore) with locating the Temples in modern times, and averting another cataclysm.[1]
List of Temples
- The Colosseum Vault is a temple.[2]
- Co-ordinates for a confirmed temple were revealed in the Temple of Pythagoras, but the Temple itself has not yet been depicted.[3]
