In 48 BCE, Matia was one of the children captured by [[bandit]]s employed by [[Gaia Afrania]], a [[Rome|Roman]] woman who intended to sell the children to her [[Aemilius|dealer]] in [[Alexandria]]. This attempt was discovered by Kawit, who decided to set fire to the shipyard that Matia and the children were held in. The next day, Iphri ran into the [[Medjay]] [[Bayek]] of [[Siwa]], and told him what had been going on, asking Bayek to find his sister. Bayek tracked the Gaia Afrania's men to an [[Apagogeas Hideout|hideout]] south of Memphis, and after killing the men, Bayek talked to a child hiding there. The child told Bayek that Kawit, along with others, had been taken to a [[Gaia Afrania's villa|villa]] in Memphis.<ref name="Children of the Streets" />
Fortunately, they were both found by the [[Medjay]] [[Bayek]] of [[Siwa]], who was helping Iphri to locate them. Bayek freed both Matia and Kawit from the cage, and subsequently, Matia returned home with Iphri on Kawit's orders.<ref name="Children of the Streets" />


At the villa, Bayek found a bunch of letters between Gaia Afrania and an [[Alexandria]]n by the name of [[Aemilius]], revealing them as human traffickers. In the basement of the villa, he found Matia and Kawit. Iphri revealed that he had been following Bayek all along, and while Kawit swore vengeance at Gaia Afrania, the children left for [[House of Nef|home]].<ref name="Children of the Streets" />

Later, Bayek found them all at the House of Nef, crying over a dead body. Kawit and Bayek exchanged words, Kawit telling the Medjay all that she knew about Gaia Afrania. Matia and Kawit freed by Bayek

Matia was an Egyptian sea urchin who lived in the House of Nef in Memphis during the 1st century BCE. He was one of the children Nef had taken under his wing, and as such, a 'sibling' to Iphri and Kawit.

Biography

In 48 BCE, Matia was one of the children captured by bandits employed by Gaia Afrania, a Roman woman who intended to sell the children to her dealer in Alexandria. This attempt was discovered by Kawit, who decided to set fire to the shipyard that Matia and the children were held in. While some of the children were able to escape, Both Matia and Kawit were captured, and were later held captive in a cage below Gaia's villa.[1]

Fortunately, they were both found by the Medjay Bayek of Siwa, who was helping Iphri to locate them. Bayek freed both Matia and Kawit from the cage, and subsequently, Matia returned home with Iphri on Kawit's orders.[1]

In retaliation for both Bayek and Kawit's actions, Gaia had Nef murdered, leaving his body in the house where Matia and the children mourned his death.[2]
