House of Nef

The House of Nef was a residence in Memphis, belonging to an Egyptian man named Nef who used it to house street urchins in the city. At least since the mid-1st century BCE, it served as a home to a number of homeless children he'd taken under his wing, including Apheru, Neema, Ngozi, Iphri, Matia, and Kawit.

However, the wealthy Roman Gaia Afrania kidnapped children off the streets, intending to traffick them to her clients in Alexandria. Kawit, the eldest of the children, was angered by this and sought to rescue the children, but was captured instead, too. Eventually, they were all freed by the Medjay Bayek of Siwa.

In retaliation, guards under Gaia travelled to the house and murdered Nef. His body was later found and mourned by the children, including Kawit and Bayek.
