Kent (Old English: Cent) is a county in South East England and one of the home counties. It borders Greater London to the north-west, Surrey to the west and East Sussex to the south-west. It is probably most well known for the Canterbury Cathedral which holds the title as the oldest cathedral in England.
History
Formerly a kingdom in its own right, Kent was settled by the tribes of Jutes from Northern Europe alongside the Angles and Saxons following the Roman exodus from Great Britain in the 5th century. After ruling for a few centuries, Kent was then absorbed and annexed into the Kingdom of Wessex.[1] Under King Aelfred, Kent was ruled by ealdorman Deogal in the early 870s.[2]
Circa 874, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir travelled to Kent to meet with the Hidden One Basim in their search for Sigrd's whereabouts.[3]
