HMS Prince was one of five legendary ships encountered by the pirate Edward Kenway in the Caribbean during his adventures in the early 18th century.
History
A Royal Navy warship, HMS Prince was engaged by Edward Kenway's Jackdaw south of Saint-Domingue in the midst of a ghostly fog. The fog, along with the ship's black and tattered sails, gave her the appearance of a "ghost ship"; a naturally superstitious lot, sailors were terrified at the likeness and the resemblance even frightened the crew of the Jackdaw. In battle, the ship tried to keep itself concealed within the fog while using its mortars to slowly wear down the opposing ship. Eventually, HMS Prince was sunk by the Jackdaw, and Kenway claimed the 20,000 reales worth of gold the vessel carried.[1]
Behind the scenes
The HMS Prince is one of the four legendary ship battles in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Her tattered black sails, ghostly theme, and the constant fog surrounding the ship makes her closely resemble the Black Pearl from the Disney film series Pirates of the Caribbean. Out of all legendary ships in the game, her model was the only one not re-used for the legendary ships in Assassin's Creed: Rogue.
