Not sure which real city this is supposed to be, the closest is Ferrières in Belgium but that one isn't even near the Rhine... there are also 7 cities in France with this name, all even further away from the Rhine than the city in Belgium (which is already not even close to it)

Ferrières

Ferrières was a large Frankish town build along the River Rhine in the eastern part of the region, just on the other side of the river from Wulfram Settlement. It featured a large number of houses and a church and was guarded by a significant military force. The old stone bridge between both locations at one point collapsed, seperating the two cities.

In the 9th century, it was raided multiple times by the Vikings Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan, Vagn, and her longship crew. During her first raid she killed the Frankish champion residing here and claimed the Ulfberht Sword for herself.[1] She later returned to defeat a mercenary hired by the citizens of Ferrières to act as a new champion, and claimed Sir Gareth's Holy Sword.[2]
