Eyvind was a Viking and a member of the Raven Clan who lived during the 9th century.

He was the nephew of the Raven Clan blacksmith, Gunnar.

Biography

In the late 9th century, Eyvind was posted to the snowy mountains north of Fornburg as a watchguard. However, he began suffering from sleep disorders due to the lack of sleep, attributed to the fear of ways the settlement could be attacked. As a consequence, when it was his turn to be on duty, Eyvind was unable to fall asleep.[1]

In 872, Eyvind was found sleepwalking by his fellows clansman Eivor. Unable to wake Eyvind from his sleepwalk, Eivor followed him as he got up and walked towards a nearby rope-slide. However, performing rope-slide was able to wake Eyvind up and he then informed Eivor of his woes. Eivor adviced him to get his much needed sleep when he's off duty, and asked him to report back before he's labelled as a deserter.[1]
