Cliffside Monastery

The Cliffside Monastery was an Anglo-Saxon Christian monastery build along the River Dee in the southwestern part of the region, northeast of the Staging Camp. It was home to a large number of monks and was protected by a sizeable military force.

In the 9th century, it was raided multiple times by the Vikings Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan, Vagn, and her longship crew. During one of these raids, she collected a valuable book containing knowledge of a new combat skill.[1]
