In 2013, Darby was involved in an email chain led by Abstergo's Chief Creative Officer Olivier Garneau regarding potential time periods for exploitation via Animus products. Darby raised the possibility of the Irish War of Independence as a setting, having had a great-grandmother who had worked alongside Éamon de Valera and Michael Collins during that time. He also hinted that an experience involving zombification was not entirely out of the question considering its historical basis in voodoo.[1]
