Chen Lun: Difference between revisions
imported>Sol Pacificus m I personally like to avoid appelling 'empire' to Chinese dynasty names because it was never part of their official names or what they called themselves. I think "Song China" can be correct in the same way as "Ptolemaic Egypt", but the name for the state was just Song. / Is "warrior" the name of a Mongol rank? |

Biography
Siege of Diaoyu Castle
In the summer of 1259, as Möngke Khan was on a campaign to conquer Song China, Chen Lun was part of the army which besieged the Song forces entrenched in Diaoyu Fortress. However, plagued by diseases and faced with the strong resistance of the Songs, the Mongols were unsuccessful in their attempts to break the fortress defenses.[2]
After the failed assault on the Xin Dong Gates, Wang Dechen called upon any able-bodied Mongol to join him in a second beleaguer at the Hu Guo Gates under the cover of darkness, which Chen Lun did. When the Song interrupted the infiltration through a hail of arrows from within the nearby forest, Chen Lun was struck and perished.[3]
