A plea for Resurrection
Hi there,
It seems like an eternity now, but about 13-14 months ago, we became affiliated wikis.
I now send this plea to you and your users:
Our wiki is dying and in desperate need of help. It seems I'm the only Admin there actually around to do something about it.
I ask only that you refer some of your editors, preferably ones who know about the achievements to Cheevo.
I am sorry to bother you.
Regards,

Just wanted to say hi
Hello Vatsa, My name is Wilc0, I'm a bureaucrat on Halo Nation and want to contribute to the AC Wiki as well, so you will see me a lot from now on. If you need any help with a project or something, just ask!
Greetings,
IRC

Some MediaWiki:Common.js coding please
Hello Vatsa,
Could you do me a favour and add this coding to MediaWiki:Common.js
$(function () {
if (wgUserName) {
$('.username-replace').text(wgUserName);
}
});
This will make my template {{USERNAME}} work, showing the username of the person who visits the page.
Delete please
Could you delete these two redirect pages: [1] & [2]. I can't mark them the traditional way, since they are technically blogs. The main reason they should be deleted is because they fill up a lot of space at Special:DoubleRedirects
Requirement
If you believe the heading italicization is not required, can you undo the edit on all game and ship articles? The ship articles are only the Jackdaw and Aquila. Other games also include. Sorry. Altaïr Skywalker 47 (talk) 14:41, September 10, 2013 (UTC)
- All reverted. And FYI, the template is more relevant to articles with these naming conventions.. --VATSA (TALK • GENTEK) 14:43, September 10, 2013 (UTC)
- Erm... V? For some reason, it now redirects into the main page! Altaïr Skywalker 47 (talk) 14:52, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

External IRC Client (s)
As I'm sure you're aware, we have two methods of connecting to the Wiki's IRC, a beginner's level which configures settings for us, and an expert level which allows to download an external program to manually enter the information in ourselves. I am having trouble getting XChat Azure (Aqua) and Colloquy to connect to the Xeriton network channel despite having followed the directions to a tea spoon and measuring cup, ah, figuratively speaking. Could there be anything I'm doing wrong, or are these settings miswritten? If it helps you at all... I'm running an OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5) on a Mac Mini. Anyway, get back to me when you can. Parent Filter
Hi, Vatsa1708!
I wanted to swing by and let you know of a new feature we've recently released for interested sites. It's called the Parent Filter and can be accessed through adding /wiki/MediaWiki:ParentFilter to the end of the site's url.
The purpose is two-fold: 1) to provide information to parents about the site's subject from people who are actually very familiar with the content and 2) to eventually provide a home or hub for all such pages parents can visit.
Here's a great example of the feature put to use.
You can learn more about it here. Feel free to throw any questions or comments you might have into that blog.
Best regards,
Raylan13<helper /> (talk) 19:38, September 16, 2013 (UTC)
- Hey there, I'm working on the Parent Filter initiative for Wikia and have created a basic page for this wiki. I'll be filling out as much information as I can but would appreciate edits, feedback, and contributions from the community as necessary. Thank you! Reply to "Point?"
Don't we scrub the comic's dialogue boxes while uploading to ACwiki? I've seen some of them. And thus, I scrubbed many dialogue boxes and for some reason, you reverted all of them :) Altaïr Skywalker 47 (talk) 06:11, September 21, 2013 (UTC)
We went over this once. While we remove subtitles/text from our images, the text being there is better than large empty white blobs covering the image. Thus, there's no point in removing text from comic images, otherwise, it would've been done already. ~ GI Auditore Comms Channel 08:46, September 21, 2013 (UTC)
Won't they spoil at least part of it? Altaïr Skywalker 47 (talk) 10:34, September 21, 2013 (UTC)
That's why we pick images carefully, until the spoiler period has subsided. Slate Vesper (talk) 22:41, September 21, 2013 (UTC)
Templars
Shouldn't we be removing all OOU categories? What makes those game factions categories different? Altaïr Skywalker 47 (talk) 15:37, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
- Who said anything about removing all OOU categories? --VATSA (TALK • GENTEK) 16:58, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
- Nobody. This is an IU wiki, so I had a doubt.... Altaïr Skywalker 47 (talk) 05:22, October 2, 2013 (UTC)
The cats
There was a talk on Storm's page about the OOU-IU category thing. Have a look here. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 15:41, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
- Oh? And does he have a category tree to substitute the current OOU categories? --VATSA (TALK • GENTEK) 16:58, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
- Iunno, I figure the staff will have some sort of agreement on that. It's Sima's idea to move away from OOU cats after all. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 17:20, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
Project Hylian Creed
Hello Vatsa1708, I am Tim. I am the last day start with a petition on Change.org and a webpage on Facebook, I call this action Project Hylian Creed. For more clearly about this, for the webpage on Facebook, you can click here and for the petition on Change.org itself, you can click here. Anyway, I want to ask you for your help with this. AC Sweepstakes
Hey there Vatsa!
I sent this message to Sima Yi, but he suggested I talk to you instead.
So recently Ubisoft wanted to reach out about hosting a sweepstakes for the Assassin's Creed community that could potentially give a random winner a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One. We'd have to host this on an article page though, as it features a video embed. I wanted to reach out today to see if that's something the AC Community would allow and if you could protect the page for the length of the sweepstakes. Let me know if you're interested. If not, we can try an alternate route.
Thanks Vatsa, Jorge <staff/>(profile)•(talk) 15:48, October 1, 2013 (UTC)
Help with an experiment?
Hello,
I wanted to ask you if this community would be interested in helping us improve search suggestions by participating in a little experiment? As part of our constant effort to improve this facet of our search functionality, we want to try out some alternate methods. If you agree, we will try out these changes here and measure the results.
The testing period will last between two to four weeks.
During that period you will see the following improvements: much faster search suggestions and a different look for the way they appear.
The possible drawbacks are: search suggest will only provide namespace suggestions (no images or categories), and any new articles created during the test will not automatically appear in search suggest (although we can manually add them if that will help).
Can I sign this community up to help us test this out? --semanticdrifter <staff/> (help forum | blog) 16:18, October 4, 2013 (UTC)

Wiki rename proposal
Honestly, a wiki as big and with as good of information as this one, in my opinion, needs a more recognizable/notable name than "Assassin's Creed Wiki", which I feel is too bland for a wiki such as this one.
I'm just proposing a rename, but I only have one name idea that comes to mind: Abstergo Archives.(NOTE: This is just an idea that came to my head at the moment; feel free to change it, if you do at least think about this proposal) Why? Well, because it sounds like a good name for an Assassin's Creed database; not to mention that you guys seem to use a few Abstergo themes in your design (ex: the Abstergo logo in your article category boxes).
You can ignore me, or you can at least consider it. I will tell you that, statistically, Wikia hosted wikis that have a unique name tend to be more active, notable, and popular than wikis with a bland name only composed of the name of the subject-topic of the wiki with "Wiki" thrown to the back of it. To back up my claim, I will list wikis that are/were ("were" being for the wikis that forked/split and lost popularity) very popular, with their wiki name probably playing a huge part in said popularity:
- The Vault / Nukapedia - a wiki about Fallout that had a jaw-dropping amount of traffic prior to their split; Wikia was probably earning a crap-load of money during those days. And even after the split, the wiki still has a huge amount of traffic, but I highly doubt the wiki would have attracted so much traffic if it wasn't for it's unique name.
- WoWWiki - Now I know this wiki doesn't really have a super unique name, but something about a simple "WoWWiki" got people going. WoWWiki used to be Wikia's "poster wiki" if you will. The amount of people who visited this site is just... "wow". Though the wiki is pretty much dead now, it was once a place where a person would edit once every one/two minutes.
- Wookieepedia - I can't leave out Wikia's sci-fi holy grail; Wookieepedia is almost never called "Star Wars Wiki". For this wiki to have been founded so long ago and to still be so active is amazing.
- Halopedia / Halo Nation - not really hard to believe that a wiki about Halo was once great, with someone editing there every, I guess, four minutes most days. Things went down there that caused a split, and now, though still popular, the wiki is pretty much split in traffic.
- Combine OverWiki / Half-Life Wiki - though nobody visits it much anymore, the wiki used to be quite popular. But, things happened, they lost one of the best content editors I've seen in my life (a guy named Klow; he added most of the content you see there) and another amazing user who acted as the wiki's tech-admin (a guy name Bramblepath; he came up with the name as well, if I'm correct). After that, the wiki went down the drain in traffic, and they didn't even come up with a long-lasting replacement name.
Now, I know most of that was kind of like a Wikia history lesson (I got a little carried away; this is a wiki about history anyway lol), but those were once (and some still) very popular, high-traffic wikis.
I hope that I have persuaded you to at least see what the rest of the community thinks about the idea of changing the wiki's name. I think it would be highly beneficial to the wiki, giving the wiki the traffic/attention it deserves. ~Anonymous 01:57, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
- Hope you don't mind me interrupting, but I, for one, like this Idea. Could we at least have a community vote? Wolfenstein ~ The Hidden Den 14:44, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
- Cause the name change is just visual, the core name remains the same and because it doesn't change the SEO. There is no need to change the visual name of the wiki just because we utilise a few visual themes from the game like every other wiki. No matter what changes we do visually, it'll always be as Assassin's Creed Wiki. And this matter closes here.
@Anonymous: I've been around Wikia long enough to see all the issues that transpired between Wikia and the original editors of most the wikis you have mentioned. There will be no name change.. --VATSA (TALK • GENTEK) 15:01, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
If you have been around long enough to see that, you will know that it wasn't the name that caused the split; it was due to something else. And honestly, is it your choice? ~Anonymous 15:56, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
I disagree that a name change would be beneficial -- we have established our reputation as the Assassin's Creed Wiki and that is reflected in things like our URL, watermarking, etc. People know to find us by this name -- changing it now would be a logistical nightmare as well as a technical complication. DarkFeather Raven's NestRaven's Hunt 15:59, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
It does make more sense to have it as it is. "Search it up on the ACWiki" is much less confusing than "Search for it on Abstergo Archives". Hoodie -The Talk (Zhe messages goes here!) 16:06, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
- Alright alright; I'll back off, since I can already tell most of the uber users here probably don't have a mind of their own and will agree with an admin's decision regardless of their own opinion. I'm not trying to be an a**hole or anything. It's just what I think, because I've seen it countless times before... Anyway, later and thanks for at least responding (unlike Sima's high-strung ***, and Nesty hasn't been active in a few days). ~Anonymous 16:08, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
- Don't see why you'd call Sima an ass, since he was the only one willing to discuss this with the others. Seems like you're the one being high-strung and throwing a tantrum because others disagree with you.
- Personally, I wouldn't mind some form of semi-IU name, but I'm not gonna throw a fit because others disagree. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 01:31, October 14, 2013 (UTC)
Edward rename
So we got some info off the front page of Initiates (doesn't need a log in so NDA doesn't apply), and we'll have to rename Edward Kenway to Edward James Kenway. I'm posting it here instead of going ahead and doing it because there'll be a mass of redirects to sort out, so we'll need the bot's help. I'd appreciate it if you took care of the rename when you have the time. Thanks V :) ~ GI Auditore Comms Channel 09:16, October 14, 2013 (UTC)
