Assassin's Creed: Codename Hexe, also referred to as Assassin's Creed: Neo,[1] is the working title for an upcoming installment in the Assassin's Creed series, being a part of the Assassin's Creed: Infinity platform. The game is expected to be one of the darkest series entries yet, set during the witch trials in the Holy Roman Empire, and will be helmed by Ubisoft Montreal.[2]

Gameplay

The series' Vice President Executive Producer Marc-Alexis Côté revealed to IGN that Codename Hexe would not be an Action-RPG like Red, but something different entirely.[3]

Development

The conceptual title of the game was first leaked on 6 September 2022 and reported by Bloomberg, who also noted that this game, as well as Assassin's Creed: Red, will likely not release until 2024 at the earliest.[2] It was later confirmed at the Ubisoft Forward livestream during its Assassin's Creed showcase, alongside a short teaser.[4]

Release

Marketing

On 10 September 2022, a short teaser was released showing a wooden Assassin insignia surrounded by script identified to be the "alphabet of the magi." Eagle-eyed fans from Access the Animus worked on translating the text. The text in the outer circle was the Creed, translated into the Old German "Wir arbeiten im dem tunckel um dem licht zu dienen", in English "We work in the dark to serve the light". The sections around the pentagram, the pentagram tips, and the central pentagon itself are all also read clockwise. They read "Mephisto rache husa", From Old German to English, it suggests a spell that reads "Mephisto avenge this house".[5]
