You cannot know anything. Only suspect.

Assassin's Creed: Hexe, also referred to as Assassin's Creed: Neo,[1] is the working title for an upcoming installment in the Assassin's Creed series, being a part of the Assassin's Creed: Infinity platform. The game is expected to be one of the darkest series entries yet, set during the latter stages of Würzburg witch trials in the Holy Roman Empire, and will be helmed by Ubisoft Montreal.[2]

Development

The conceptual title of the game was first leaked on 6 September 2022 and reported by Bloomberg, who also noted that this game, as well as Assassin's Creed: Red, will likely not release until 2024 at the earliest.[2] It was later confirmed at the Ubisoft Forward livestream during its Assassin's Creed showcase, alongside a short teaser.[3] The series' Vice President Executive Producer Marc-Alexis Côté revealed to IGN that Hexe would not be an Action-RPG like Red, but something different entirely.[4]

Behind the scenes

The script around the wooden Assassin insignia is written in the so-called "Template:Wik", the modern name for a series of symbols used by 17th century occultists what was based on the Hebrew alphabet. The outer ring is read clockwise, and after transposing the Latin alphabet, it produces the German translation of part of the Creed, "Wir arbeiten [sic] im dem twnckel [sic] um dem licht zu dienen", or "We work in the dark to serve the light". The sections around the pentagram, the pentagram tips, and the central pentagon itself are all also read clockwise. Starting from the "goat's" right horn, they read "Mephisto"; "rache", and "hwsa", respectively, with "rache" being the singular imperative of rächen or "revenge, to avenge" and "hwsa" derived from the Proto-German word hūsą meaning "house". Together, it suggests a spell that reads "Mephisto avenge this house".[5]
