Ímvaldr was a famed Norse shipmaster who lived in Alrekstad, Norway in the late 9th century.

In 870, he was comissioned to make a ship by Thorsteinn Silvertongue and his wife Gunnhilda Gunnarsdottir for their voyage to England. He completed his work within seven months and was there to oversee their departure, commenting on the quality of the sails Gunnhilda's family had provided.[1]
