Assassins Creed: Ascendance is a short, animated film project made to expand the Assassin's Creed series. It was revealed by UbiWorkshop on November 10, 2010, and came out on November 16 for PlayStation®Store, Xbox LIVE®, and other digital channels.[1]
The project was originally named "Secret Project Number Three" by UbiWorkshop.[2]
Plot
Created as a bridge between Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, it involves Ezio Auditore tracking and gathering information about the Borgia, in order to discover how Cesare Borgia rose to power in Italy.[3]
The film is portrayed mostly through a conversation Ezio has with a hooded contact, who relays to him Cesare's methods and desire for power, particularly in his vendetta against his older brother, with the help of Fiora Cavazza.[3]
Media
The art style of the entire animation was made to be a balance between what the animators were comfortable with, and the traditional oil-paint style iconic to the Renaissance era.[4]
Additionally, the makers wished for the film to be familiar to fans of the series, and thus used sound effects and backgrounds taken directly from Brotherhood, such as the Papal apartments in the Castel Sant'Angelo, and the building on Tiber Island.[4]
