Eivor arrives at the Tip of the Spear (left) on horseback

The Tip of the Spear was a mountain top, where a Viking camp of Clan Hemmingsons was based in 9th century Snotinghamscire.

History

In 876, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan visited her old friend and mentor, Hemming Jarl, as he was about to lay siege on Ulkerthorpe Fort, which was in control of the Picts. Eivor offered her aid in the siege, to which Hemming accepted, as Hemming addressed his warriors. Meanwhile, Eivor and Vili greeted each other and playfully teased each other, too. As Hemming rallied his warriors, Eivor and Vili led the warriors against the fort and began the siege.[1]
