The Temples were locations throughout the world built by the First Civilization, in order to prevent the repeat of a catastrophe that had led to their extinction.
History
According to Minerva, the Temples were built by the members of her race "who knew to turn away from war" – presumably meaning those who did not fight or did not want to fight in the war between the humans and the First Civilization.[1]
The temples were built as a way to counteract a disaster that had once before damaged the Earth, and had killed most of the humans and Those Who Came Before. Minerva tasked the Assassin Desmond Miles (speaking to him through his ancestor, Ezio Auditore) with locating the Temples in modern times, and averting another cataclysm.[1]
List of Temples
- Coordinates for a confirmed temple were revealed in the Pythagorean Vault, but the Temple itself has not yet been depicted.[2] The location matches the location of one of the assassin symbols on the codex map on Mario's study's wall in Assassin's Creed II, alluding to the assassin symbols indicating temple locations.
