The Sikh Army was the military force of the Sikh Empire. It was modernized in terms of its principles and training from its leader, Maharaja Ranjit Singh.[1]
History
On 27 June 1839, the Sikh army suffered a blow after the death of their Maharaja at the hands of the British Templar Francis Cotton. Unfortunately, the soldiers were misled by Cotton's false accusation to attack the Indian Assassin Arbaaz Mir. With this loss, the Sikh Empire and its army gradually began to crumble.[2] For the next two years, the army continued to protect the last surviving member of Singh's family, Pyara Kaur, forcing Arbaaz to avoid them as he infiltrated the Summer Palace in Amritsar to visit the princess.[3]
