The Norsemen (or Norse people) were a North Germanic ethnolinguistic group of the Early Middle Ages, during which they spoke Old Norse. During the 8th century the Norsemen embarked on sea-faring expansions that would later be known as the Viking Age. These Norse traders, settlers and warriors became commonly known as Vikings.
