King's Bury

King's Bury was a village located near the town of Theotford in East Anglia. King Edmund was buried in a crypt at the church following his death.

In 873 CE, men loyal to the rogue Viking chieftain Rued seized the settlement in a move to gradually control the kingdom. Shortly after, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir entered Theotford seeking to raise a joint force of Anglo-Saxons and Danes to avenge the presumed murder of the client-king Oswald at Rued's hands. Skeptical of a Dane claiming to support Oswald and wary of giving them soldiers to command, Theotford's reeve Wynnstan tasked her with reclaiming King's Bury as a test of character. True to her word, Eivor sailed to the village and eliminated the raiders, earning the support of Theotford's forces.[1]

Some time during these events, Eivor also recovered a nickel ingot from a chest and the Magister's Mask belonging to the Hidden One Vitus.[2]
