The Anglo-Saxon Heptarchy was the group of 7 kingdoms that controlled the land that is now England. The collapse of the Heptarchy began in 829CE when Wessex took control of Essex, Kent, and Sussex.
Trivia
- The kingdoms of East Anglia, Mercia, and Northumbria would eventually become one with Wessex following the invasion of the Great Heathen Army marking the creation of a unified England
- The Norman Invasion of England in 1066 ended all Anglo-Saxon rule in England.
