Gullinbursti, also known as Slíðrugtanni, was an iron boar in Norse mythology.
Mythology
Gullinbursti was created by the dwarves Brokkr and Sindri, master blacksmiths and brothers who were commissioned by Loki to create a gift that would rival Sif's hair, Freyr's magically-folding ship Skíðblaðnir, and Odin's spear Gungnir all made by the Sons of Ivaldi. To do this, Sindri threw a boar skin into the furnace while Brokkr worked the bellows until they made a boar with bristles that glowed in the dark.[1]
Biography
When Odin travelled to Svartálfaheimr to rescue his captured son Baldr from the Muspel leader Surtr, he came across Gullinbursti being ridden and mistreated by a Jotun warrior. After handling the Jotnar, Odin reclaimed his boar and used him to venture through the realm easier.[2]
