Flyting is a spoken-word contest popular among the Norsemen and Anglo-Saxons in which the contestants attempt to insult each other while maintaining a specific rhyme and rhythm.
History
In the late 9th-century, the shieldmaiden Eivor learned the art of flyting from her clansmen Alvis. She would later gain renown in the sport by challenging and besting people across Norway and the Anglo-Saxon Heptarchy.
