The shooting of the Romanov family was an important event within the Russian Civil War, which ended up killing all the members of the Romanov dynasty.
During the Russian Civil War, the White Army aimed to overthrow Vladimir Lenin's socialist party and to re-establish Tsar Nicholas II's reign by saving him and his family. However, the Red Army, led by Lenin's Bolsheviks, knew about the White Army's plans and hurried to Yekaterinburg, the place where Nicholas II and his family exiled themselves, and then executed the Romanov family.
The act was witnessed by the Assassin Nikolai Orelov who managed to save Grand Duchess Anastasia's life.
