Dun Ardtreck

Dun Ardtreck is a D-shaped fort in the western part of Scotland's Isle of Skye.

History

In the 9th century, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan traveled to Dun Ardtreck to find one of the triangular shards for the pedestal in the Cave of Gold. From her search, Eivor found a note, which dictated that one of the shards happened to be in the nearby waters. Diving in, Eivor swam underwater to find the shard. Discovering the piece, Eivor retrieved the shard and left the area soon afterwards.[1]

From her travels, Eivor discovered a chest within one of the homes. However, the chest was locked and Eivor went searching for its key. The key happened to be carried by one of the Pict warriors within the area. After stealing the key, Eivor went back and opened the chest as she collected a spear, the Spear of Leonidas.[2]
