Speak sense, Templar, or not at all!

This article, or article section, is non-canon. Although licensed by Ubisoft or their affiliates, the information that follows is not considered a part of the Assassin's Creed timeline.

Assassin's Creed is a non-canonical eight-page comic by Michael "Gabe" Krahulik and Jerry "Tycho Brahe" Holkins of Penny Arcade, a website focused on video game culture. Originally published online on 1 August 2007,[2] it was included as promotional material in pre-ordered Limited Edition steelboxes of the game Assassin's Creed and follows its protagonist, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, on one of his missions in Acre.

It was reprinted on Ubisoft's official site behind an age gate[3] shortly after 12 October 2007 and remained up while the Assassin's Creed series expanded until it was removed sometime after February 2014,[4] though it can still be found on Penny Arcade.[2]

Plot[edit | edit source]

Altaïr entered Acre on a mission from his Mentor, Al Mualim. Blending into a crowd of priests and civilians, he spotted his target, a heavily-built man in a green cape. Altaïr climbed to the roofs to track his target from above, while the man remained wary of his surroundings yet unaware of what had changed. Altaïr followed the man to a merchant's stall of oranges, but his target noticed the Assassin's presence. Once he was obscured by the stall awning, the target dashed up a flight of stairs behind the shopkeeper.

Detail of Altaïr fighting his target

The man suddenly appeared behind Altaïr and insulted his assailant, calling him "one of Al Mualim's pups". The two fought, but the green-cloaked man easily held his own. The man began ranting, saying that although Al Mualim started by removing Altaïr's finger during his initiation, he would gradually remove his pupil's freedoms and kill him once his usefulness ended. Altaïr silently elbowed him in the nose and attempted a leaping attack, but was countered with an uppercut that knocked him flat.

The man pulled Altaïr close and insinuated that Al Mualim fathered not only many of the Levantine Assassins, but also Altaïr himself. Altaïr, still quiet, headbutted the man, fatally stabbed him in the gut with the Hidden Blade, and closed the man's eyes. Later, during his debriefing, Al Mualim asked if Altaïr's target had said anything unusual. Altaïr dismissed the man's words as "nothing of consequence", to which the Mentor replied that the target had always been "a teller of tales".
