The Tunisian Brotherhood of Assassins was the branch of the Assassin Order located in Tunisia, which operated during the Renaissance.

History[edit | edit source]

Renaissance[edit | edit source]

In 1511, a group of Ottoman Assassins was dispatched to Tunis by the Italian Assassin Mentor Ezio Auditore. They stole bribes given by the Templars to the Hafsid King Muhammad IV, who allowed only Templar-approved merchants to sell their goods[1] and imposed strict quotas and mandates that negatively affected the local farmers.[2] They also eliminated Templar-bribed Hafsid ministers to send a message that corruption would not be tolerated,[3] and eventually expelled the Templars from the city.[4]

Capitalizing on their victory, the Assassins installed several Dens in Tunis to solidify their control,[4] and cooperated with local community leaders to revive the country's crippled economy by securing fruitful trade arrangements with European merchants.[5]
