Sokar speaking to Bayek

Sokar was an Egyptian blacksmith of Sais who later moved to Sau Village in Sap-Meh Nome during the reign of Ptolemy XIII.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Sokar was a talented blacksmith, known for forging a spear for one of Apollodorus's captains during his time in Sais. Tales of the spear's capabilities spread throughout the village. However, the captain was killed by Sefetu's men, who stole the spear and caused Sokar to leave the village. He would later settle down in Sau village south of Sais, and there he resumed his crafting.[1]

In 48 BCE, Sokar was visited by the Medjay Bayek of Siwa who heard stories of the spear. Sokar directed Bayek to a trireme on Lake Mareotis, where the spear's thief was sailing, telling the Medjay to keep the spear if he ever retrieved it.[1]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Sokar, also spelled Seker, was the name of a falcon god worshipped in Memphis.
