Onnos was a priest who served at the Temple of Karnak in Thebes, Egypt during the reign of Cleopatra.
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 38 BCE, after the city was plagued by a "curse", Onnos and a fellow priest, Sab, were tasked to travel to a shrine of Amun in the Theban Necropolis to conduct a ritual to appease the gods. Along the journey, they were attacked by a group of bandits, causing Sab to flee and leave Onnos behind. Onnos managed to escape unscathed, but not without losing a statue of Amun needed for the ritual.[1]
Onnos followed the bandits to their hideout situated in the hills, hiding behind a bush and attempting to find a way to recover the statue. He was later found by the Hidden One Bayek of Siwa, who had met Sab earlier and had been sent to locate Onnos. Onnos was persuaded by Bayek to meet Sab at the shrine while he helped them to recover the statue. Shortly after, Onnos was reunited with Sab at the shrine, but were not able to proceed with the ritual due to a pack of lions in the area. Bayek later arrived, having retrieved a statue of Amun needed for the ritual. He helped the priests to eliminate the lions, thereby allowing them to conduct the ritual to ward off the curse.[1]
