Nailah was a daughter of Menehet, a priest of the Temple of Sekhmet in Yamu, Egypt during the reign of Ptolemy XIII.

As a daughter of Menehet, a respected priest of the Temple of Sekhmet in Yamu, Nailah grew up in the temple. Alongside her siblings Soris, Hasina, and Keba, she was well acquainted with the Medjay of Siwa, Bayek, in her childhood, and she and her siblings affectionately referred to him as Uncle Bayek. In 48 BCE, when Bayek stopped by Yamu on his way to Alexandria to rendezvous with his wife, Aya, he paid a visit to Menehet.
