- "I tried to be a good father when I was there. But I allowed myself to become distracted from the order, from my true purpose."
- ―Alejandro Ortega de Márquez.[src]
Alejandro Ortega de Márquez (died c. 1707) was a Spanish privateer and Templar who was active in the Caribbean. He conquered several small islands in the name of King Philip V of Spain. Despite rumors that he had lived a year among the Taíno, possibly even taking a Taíno bride and fathering one or more children, Alejandro eventually attacked one of their settlements and was killed in the ensuing battle.
Due to his occupation, Alejandro's presence at home was rare, with some of his children, such as Lucia Márquez, growing up without ever meeting him. Consequently, they struggled to make ends meet and were forced to take to the streets to survive.[1]
In 2013, his genetic memories were used as an Animi Avatar by the entertainment branch of the Templar company Abstergo Industries, to influence the general public via the Animus game console, under the title of the Adventurer.[1]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
