Etienne Allonier is a world-wide brand director for Ubisoft Montreal. He is responsible for many of Ubisoft's franchises, including the Prince of Persia and Assassin's Creed franchises.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Early life and career[edit | edit source]

Etienne Allonier graduated from Paris Dauphine University in 1997 with a Masters degree in management and marketing. He begun working for AB InBev as a Product Manager that same year, before eventually leaving in 2001 for Sony Computer Entertainment France, being promoted to Key Account Manager in 2004. Allonier joined Ubisoft in 2006 as the European Senior Brand Manager.[1]

Assassin's Creed[edit | edit source]

In September 2016, when the franchise reached over 100 million sales, Allonier marveled at the "huge milestone" and commented that after the movie and the upcoming games, fans would be pleased with the future of Assassin's Creed.[2]

In an April 2019 Behind the Scenes look at Assassin's Creed: Rebellion, Allonier praised the new gameplay and art direction as appealing to newcomers of the franchise. He was happy to satisfy the mobile-exclusive players as it showed the growth of the series and how it had reached even mobile players.[3]

For the May 2020 promotional free Play Your Part, Play at Home campaign week for the Discovery Tour, to encourage people to social distance during COVID-19, Allonier said "With millions of children experiencing upheaval to their studies right now, and teachers forced to adapt their lessons to digital tools, people are seeking new and enriching ways to learn," adding that "[They're] really proud of the Discovery Tours and their capacity to make history accessible, immersive, and fun."[4]

In 2021, when the merger of the Montreal and Quebec Ubisoft studios was announced, Allonier joined with Marc-Alexis Côté in ensuring the future of the Assassin's Creed franchise takes a more cohesive approach as the two of them guided their respective teams.[5] These combined studios would then be confirmed to be working on the Animus Hub live-service hub.[6]
