Diego de Alvarado (died c. 1492) was a member of the Spanish Assassins who led a bureau in Burgos, Spain before defecting to the Spanish Templars. By acting as a double-agent, he helped Grand Inquisitor Tomás de Torquemada acquire one of the Shattered Staff of Eden's three lost pieces.

In the late 15th century, Diego was placed in charge of leading an Assassin bureau in northern Spain, particularly in Burgos, an unfamiliar region to Aguilar de Nerha and the Spanish Assassins.[1]
After the fall of Granada and the recovery of the Apple of Eden by Aguilar in 1492,[2] the Master Assassin attempted to contact Diego for leads on the Templar Gustavo Ramírez's whereabouts, whom the Assassins believed to be in northern Spain. However, Diego was captured by Ramírez, who "tortured" him for information on a section of a Staff of Eden.[1]
In truth, Ramírez had convinced Diego to support the Templars in their goals and to feed the Inquisition information as a double-agent instead.[3] This led Diego to reveal the whereabouts of the Staff's last section, allowing Ramírez to continue his search.
