This article has a lot of room for expansion. Please improve it with additional information in accordance with the Manual of Style

Aizu (会津) is a region in northeastern Japan in the Fukushima Prefecture. During the Edo period, Aizu was a feudal domain under the Tokugawa shogunate.[1]

In the Bakumatsu era, it was the setting for one of the most important battles of the Boshin War, the Battle of Aizu. The daimyō of this feudal domain was Matsudaira Katamori, the Tokugawa Shugoshoku of Kyoto. Aizu was also the birthplace of the Japanese Assassins Nakano Takeko and Shiba Atsuko, who fought in the Boshin War to stop the Templars from restoring the authority of the Imperial Court.[2]
