County Cork is the southernmost county of Ireland. In 1822, English landlord Brandon Bolster and his family were attacked on their Athlacca estate in the county by irate tenants,[1] who formed the Whiteboys, over tensions revolving around Bolster's usage of the farmlands. Fifty men attacked the estate, setting it aflame, though Brandon himself managed to survive the assault.[2]
