The Confederate States of America was a confederation of states that seceded from the United States of America, precipitating the American Civil War. These states were South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina and Tennessee.

The Confederate States were secretly backed by the Templar Order. Grand Master William M. Tweed was the boss of Tammany Hall, the political machine that controlled New York City politics and through which Tweed influenced the Democratic Party.
