The Administrative District of the Round City of Baghdad was located north of the Caliphal Palace. It housed many administrative buildings of the caliphate, including the Mazalim Courts and the Postal Bureau.
In the 860s, the Hidden One Basim ibn Ishaq travelled to the district to investigate the Tahirid governor Muhammad ibn Tahir, who was suspected of being the Ra's Al-Af'a of the Order of the Ancients.[1]
