Data and mine

I'm saddened to say, but Lacrosse isn't a dataminer, they just moved that info from my Sandbox to the mainspace. We don't really have a dataminer on staff, though, I'm probably the closest thing to it we have. We don't deal with audio, but we do mess images and text cut from the games. - Soranin (talk) 23:28, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

Shoot, no audio? T_T That's a shame since I bet there's a lot of goodies/interesting tidbits with the audio files. But thank you for telling me this! I'm grateful to find anyone who can help with datamine files found in ACS. It's been really hard to find any shred of it, and I honestly hope that I can find more datamine audio files. I hope the links I provided on Lacrosse's talk page can also be proven useful. I'm always checking on the AC Wiki to see if you guys post more datamine info from the games, so thanks for all of your hard work. I really hope that dataminers can appear one day and help with digging through the games' files for the fanbase. Again, thank you so much for replying to my question! I'm glad Soranin saw your comment because yeah I was just applying information he had gleaned. It is a shame we don't have a big datamining community at least in regards for wiki purposes. I feel like a lot of interesting tidbits would be mentioned in the audio files, so I've been mostly searching for those, but to no avail. The All Sounds of Assassin's Creed Tumblr has a few audio files, I know there's gonna be more buried within the game files and there's probably unused images locked someone in the game files, too. Unfortunately, considering that I'm only concerned with the English files, I don't think reaching to someone in the French fandom is gonna help if they don't speak English. Hey NinjaSheik! Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, been pretty busy with my dissertation so I've only dropped in the wiki occasionally to fix little things before going back to research. Soranin, hiya! :D It's really good to hear from you. I don't really know any from the AC Wiki aside from you, so I often feel bad for spamming your talk page with messages. ^_^; I'm glad to hear you're doing well, and I wish all the best with your dissertation. With how the world has descended in sheer madness lately, I hope you're staying safe and healthy during these troubling times. :) I'm not very familiar with how the community conduct things when it comes adding datamine info, so I've left messages on the articles' discussion pages from what I was able to skim so far. I'm too scared to edit on the actually articles since I'm not a frequent contributor on the wiki. Lol, unfortunately, I haven't been able to take the time and thoroughly look through things (and I'm still a newbie, so it's been a learning experience, for sure), but it's pretty fascinating stuff I've found so far. I know it'll take some time to make progress with dataming, but I'll try my best. Again, best of luck with your dissertation! Hiya, Lacrossedeamon. :) I'm glad you mentioned that the wiki is thinking about making a page for cut/datamine content. I think it's a great idea, though I also understand how hard the task may be for making one. ^_^;

To be frank, when I first got into the AC franchise and started coming to the wiki, I was REALLY shocked the wiki didn't have a page dedicated for removed content/datamine content at all. I just assumed that, since I got into the fandom so late, that one was already made. I was so used to being on wikis like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Fire Emblem that have their removed content articles, so...yeah, a shock. I know that some datamine info are covered in certain articles in trivia sections, whereas on the game wikis I'm used to going covers them in the "Behind the scenes" sections or "Creation/development" sections on a subject's article. One of the reasons why I'm sticking to just posting info on talk pages is because I'm at a lost of what to do, about where to put it and how much I should cover.

I did a lot of digging through old forums and hunting down datamine tools to help with datamining ACS (just because it's my favorite among the franchise), I've linked sources before to where users who posted bits and pieces of text and audio and image files online (e.g. AllSoundsofAssassinsCreed Tumblr blog), so I hope the other users will be able to use them. I'm still unskilled when it comes to datamining, but I'm receiving instructions from the creator of the Blacksmith tool. If the wiki is thinking about making their own removed content page, I can guide you the Blacksmith tool's creator's Discord to help with datamining content.--NinjaSheik 21:10, 21 August 2021 (UTC)

Still active?

Hey was going through old talkpages and saw your comments on the one for Alexander Graham Bell. Hoping you are well and wondering if you are still active. Hiya. Was surprised to see this and wondering what this could be about after all this time. XD I'm not as active as I used to be nowadays, but I'm always lurking and edit from time to time. Anyway, yeah, I still have the datamine files stored up in a Google Drive for ACS, but it's still terribly disorganized and would take time to go through. I don't know when I'll be able to do so, though, as I am busy with other projects at the moment. I'll get to it when I have the time if no one else has, but I don't wanna make any promises that it'll be done any time soon. And rather than creating a sandbox, I'd rather just post on Aleck's talk page so users can find easily.NinjaSheik 21:05, 30 June 2024 (UTC)

No worries. I understand focusing on other stuff. If you ever do get around to it I would say a sandbox is better if it is a lot of content rather than the talkpage but that's a judgement call for you. I originally was going to share more datamine content on the wiki, but I kinda figured that no one was really interested in that sort of stuff and I sorta just gave up on posting on the wiki over time. I'm pretty semi-active when it comes to editing nowadays, so I rarely do any big edits. Alternatively, if you want, I can share the file with you via the Google Drive. The datamine file is left in its original state, so the contents is all over the place, as I mentioned before. I don't mind sharing it if you're looking to get the info immediately and it might be easier that way so you have access to all of the cut content mentioned in the file.NinjaSheik 01:36, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

I don't even remember what the Mediafire files contain. Because, if I remember correctly, the Mediafire files only contains the text files from the main game, right? The DLC text files contain more info, like for the JTR DLC has an rough draft timeline that explains what happens after the events of the main game and small things like how Lydia was originally conceptualized as Jacob's daughter than granddaughter. With how messy the files are, it is going to take time to review it just to know and I don't know if/when I'll be able to get to it. If there's anyone willing to dig through all that stuff, I'm willing to share the files with them.NinjaSheik 03:11, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
