The Joys of Youth was a virtual representation of one of Wei Yu's disciple's genetic memories relived through the Animus.

The disciple went to aid their youxia companions on their endeavours around Jade Spring.
Dialogue[edit | edit source]
Travel with Yu Ying[edit | edit source]
Wei Yu's disciple decided to find Yu Ying to help her with her matters, approaching a tea stand on the outskirts of Jade Spring and seing Yu Ying hidden behind a fence while observing the people seated at the tables.
- Yu Ying: There you are.
She pointed to a man dressed in a red garb near the tables, who was armed with a spear.
- Yu Ying: That man has stolen something from me and I need you to help me get it back.
- Wei Yu's disciple: What is it?
- Yu Ying: It's...
She hesitated.
- Yu Ying: You'll know it when you see it. Now please.
- Wei Yu's disciple: I'll see what I can do.
As the disciple stood up, the man spotted them and started to run away.
- Wei Yu's disciple: What?
- Yu Ying: Damn it! You have to go after him!
- Wei Yu's disciple: Stop right there!
They started chasing after him up a nearby hill. Eventually, the student caught up to him in a small abandoned estate, where a group of thieves joined their companion in his fight against them. After dealing with them, the disciple approached a nearby building.
- Wei Yu's disciple: This building must be where these thieves have been keeping all of their stolen goods. I should find a way in.
They approached one of the stronghold's weaker outer walls.
- Wei Yu's disciple: This section of the wall looks rather unstable... Maybe there's some way I can get through.
The student picked up an oil jar and used it to destroy the wall, entering the edifice and inspecting the thieves' loot.
- Wei Yu's disciple: This is... a lot.
As you look around the room, Yu Ying rushes in, concerned about the state of its contents. She confesses that these treasures weren't stolen by bandits, but were gifted to her by people's she's helped. This trove is her way of ensuring that the youxia have resources to fall back on if things ever go awry. You promise to keep her secret.
Travel with Chu Huan[edit | edit source]
Afterwards, the disciple met Chu Huan at the entrance of the bandits' den, finding him watching over the cave from some bushes.
- Wei Yu's disciple: I see you've found the bandit cmap. What have you learned?
- Chu Huan: See that? The caves over there are where the bandits have been hiding their stolen goods. Now, with their leader out, it's the perfect time to strike. Let's split up to cover more ground.
The disciple separated from him and approached the wooden platform above the cavity that stretched into the earth, eavesdropping on the rumblings of a bandit below.
- Talkative bandit: Can't wait for the boss to bring back this new batch of "goods".
The student faith-leapt into the cavern and went further into the hideout inside, looting the chests scattered while looking for the bandits' trove. Eventually, they found two thugs amidst a conversation.
- Brash bandit: Who would have thought these Xiongnu would have some use after all.
- Stolid bandit: The last batch of them had so little meat on the bone they were practically useless.
The disciple confronted a killed the two bandits, noticing something on the corpse of one of them.
- Wei Yu's disciple: Huh, there's a key on his body. I should keep it in case.
They looted the key from his body. On the next room, the disciple found Chu Huan waiting before a locked door.
- Wei Yu's disciple: Here, I found the key.
They used the key to open the door to the trove.
As you unlock the door, a sound from the front of the cave draws your attention backwards to the bandit leader entering with a row of slaves in tow—the aforementioned "goods". Knowing Chu Huan's history as a kidnapped child, you warn him not to do anything rash, but he is already leaping through the air.
The two started a fight with the group of bandits.
- Wei Yu's disciple: What happened to the quieter the better?
Fire arrows should be more effective. Perhaps it's time to use the bow Chu Huan gave me. - Chu Huan: People are not animals to be sold!
Take this, you slaver pig!
The disciple exploited the thugs' weakness to fire to help Chu Huan defeat all of the bandits.
Having dealt with the bandits, you leave the cave and check in with Chu Huan, who requests that you not mention any of this to Yu Ying. Knowing that both he and Yu Ying were saved in their childhoods from a life of slavery by master Wei Yu, you agree to keep quiet about this sensitive issue.
- Wei Yu's disciple: I should get back to the village.
Return to Jade Spring[edit | edit source]
After helping their sworn siblings, the disciple returned to Jade Spring, stopping by its entrance to read the sign over its main gate.

They then walked to the village's main building, where they saw Yu Ying seated on the handrail of its balcony accompanied by Chu Huan. The student entered the edifice and joined their friends at the balcony.
- Yu Ying: I want to save up and start a prosperous business empire like Ba Qing. She's so amazing.
The disciple leaned against the railing.
- Chu Huan: Ba Qing? The richest merchant in the entire empire?
- Wei Yu's disciple: You would be surprised at how much Yu Ying has already saved up.
- Yu Ying: Anyway, Chu Huan, didn't you say you had something to share with us?
Chu Huan shows them a jar full of wine.
- Chu Huan: I promised to pour you a cup of the best wine when you turned twenty.
- Wei Yu's disciple: I only turn twenty tomorrow.
- Yu Ying: And is that Master Wei Yu's favorite wine?
- Chu Huan: Master Wei Yu has been away for so long, it's going to go bad by the time he returns!
- Wei Yu's disciple: He's going to be back soon. And I'm not gonna be the one to tell him that we had his best wine for my birthday.
- Chu Huan: Fine, fine. Have it your way.
He stored the jar.
- Chu Huan: Luckily, I knew you would be a stick in the mud, so I brought mine.
Outcome[edit | edit source]
Wei Yu's disciple met their friends at Jade Spring's main temple, where they shared a stock of wine in celebration for the student's birthday the following day.
