Homecoming was a virtual representation of one of Wei Yu's disciple's genetic memories relived through the Animus.
Wei Yu's disciple journeys back to their home village of Jade Spring, helping the ones in need along the way.
The student whistled to call their horse, mounted it, and headed deeper into the Great Wall Junction.
- Wei Yu's disciple: That ruckus we caused back at the palace... I hope no one traces that back to us. I have to speak with Jing as soon as I get back. She has a lot of explaining to do.
On their way through the fields, the disciple passed near a woman who was calling for help.
- Villager: Help! Bandits have taken our children and captured them over there, in the fields!
They approached the estate pinpointed by the woman, in which a large group of bandits lurked.
- Wei Yu's disciple: I should take the bandits out quietly. Getting them alarmed will only place the villagers at risk.
The youxia silently took out some of the bandits, reaching one of the captured villagers and untying them.
- Wei Yu's disciple: You're free. Get back to the village, but make no sound.
- Villager: Thank you, youxia! I will remember this forever.
The villager escaped. Eventually, the disciple assassinated all the bandits in the estate and freed all of the townsfolk.
As you free the last villager, a final bandit comes out of hiding, but begs for mercy. Thinking he's harmless, you spare him. But a figure leaps out from behind you and stabs him. It is Nie Jing, the youxia's informant.
The disciple talked to Nie Jing, who was accompanied by Chu Huan.
- Wei Yu's disciple: He said he surrendered.
- Nie Jing: And if a lion told you it would not bite, would you walk into its den?
- Wei Yu's disciple: Speaking of lions and dens, you never told us the Emperor himself would be at the palace.
- Nie Jing: You saw him?
- Wei Yu's disciple: And only by a struck of luck did he not see us. How did you not know?
- Nie Jing: My sources have never been wrong.
- Chu Huan: I can't believe the bandits attacked again and stole the village's supplies! I'm going to find their camp.
Chu Huan left the pair.
- Wei Yu's disciple: Wait, Chu—
- Nie Jing: You should be coming with me. What you've taken from the palace is too precious to have you running around with it. Now come one, let's go.
She lead the way to the village, with the student following behind.
- Nie Jing: I'm sorry about the Emperor. Truly, I didn't know.
- Wei Yu's disciple: I'm just worried that what happened at the palace will have consequences for us.
- Nie Jing: I might not have known about the Emperor, but I promise you: I will take care of this.
- Wei Yu's disciple: Thank you. I needed to hear that.
As they approached Jade Spring, a boy who had watched the events at the estate from afar spotted the two and ran to them.
- Child: That was awesome! The way that you [punches] and the way that she [slashes] and the way that they [dying sounds]. Awesome! I'm gonna tell the whole village about what you did!
Jing and the disciple went further into the village, entering a large building at its center. Inside, the student followed her to a storage room, where they put the treasure case down on a shelf.
- Wei Yu's disciple: There. Safe and sound.
- Nie Jing: Before I forget, Old Fan told me to pass you a message. He's asked the Martial Arts master to prepare a gift for you. Now while you're collecting your present, I'll be off to fix your mess.
Nie Jing parted ways with them. The youxia observed the Whistler bow that Chu Huan had given them and then went to meet the martial arts master, Ji Wei, at the village's training grounds.
- Ji Wei: You're due a gift.
The master showed them the Axe of Valor.
- Ji Wei: Go ahead, put it in your hands. Feel its weight.
In addition to the axe, Ji Wei gave them matching tunic and pants, which they then put on.
- Ji Wei: How does it feel?
- Wei Yu's disciple: Heavy.
- Ji Wei: Good. Then you will grow. Now, prepare yourself.
- Wei Yu's disciple: For what?
- Ji Wei: For a sparring match, of course. How else will you acquaint yourself with this weapon?
- Wei Yu's disciple: A tempting offer, yet I am uncertain if I should...
- Ji Wei: A true warrior feels no challenge.
The two initiated a fight, with the disciple wielding the axe and Ji Wei holding a shield and a spear.
- Ji Wei: Shields may withstand attacks from light weapons but not from heavy axes. Pummel hard enough and you'll throw a shield bearer off-balance.
By using their axe to break the master's posture a few times, the disciple passed his test.
- Ji Wei: Excellent! Now go and put that gift to use! Your friends came here earlier looking for you. You should find them.
The disciple rescued a number of Jade Spring villagers from a group of bandits. Afterwards, they and Nie Jing stored the treasure stolen from the palace, and practiced the use of axes with the village's martial arts master.
