I get this page was created by a sockpuppet but honestly I say keep. We have plenty examples where we have articles for both the rebellion/revolution and the rebels/revolutionaries. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 07:12, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

It's not really conjecture. It's just descriptive rather than a formal name like the Sons of Liberty. The game normally just calls the Rebels but occasionally uses Zanj rebels. I could see an argument for moving this to just Zanj similar to how we have a page for Maroons. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 08:55, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

My issue with this page, is that unlike for the Sons of Liberty, we don't even have any auxiliary material (like database entries) to flesh this one out. I believe there is nothing that could be in this page (taking the series as a source) that would not be in the page for the rebellion proper.

Moving this to "Zanj" instead would also be problematic, given that even wikipedia says that the term as used for the rebellion was not referring to the actual Zanj people, intead being used as a synonym for Africans in general: "however the term Zanj here is thought to refer to Africans in general due to the lack of a prolific slave trade on the Swahili coast during this period and genetic studies." We do have some auxiliary material, a database entry on the rebels (it's Mirage so it sucks) and at least one Echoes of History episode that should reference them (although not the focus). Zanj is an exonym to begin with so I don't really see an issue with framing it as "predominately Bantu people but also including other African diaspora within the Arab world".
