Mithras vs Mithra[edit source]
Altair's codex mentions Mithra comparing his story to that of Jesus, Horus, Dionysus, etc. Should we treat this the same individual as Mithras. Mithra is the Persian predecessor to the Roman Mithras and while connected the level of continuity from one idea to the other is debated. Currently the mention of Mithra in the codex links to here. - I feel it should be fine to use this page for both, so long as the difference between the two is acknowledged somewhere on the page. - Soranin (talk) 14:52, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
- I kinda laid the groundwork but I'm thinking that we should actually have this paged titled Mithra because it makes it easier with linking between the two, Mithra appears first in canon, and because IRL Mithra precedes Mithras. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 17:52, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
- I think our naming policy favours the name used in its more significant appearance, which in this case would be in Valhalla although strictly speaking, I don't personally mind if this were titled "Mithra". However, if we wanted to favour earlier appearances, I would propose moving "Christopher Columbus" back to "Cristoffa Corombo" also in lieu of Discovery being the work where he is more significant. One other argument for keeping the name of this article Mithras though is that it can leave it more ambiguous if we are considering him the same being as Mithra. The article can revolve around Mithras in Valhalla with only off-hand mention of the origin of the name and Mithra being noted in Altaïr's codex without making any definitive claim that they are the same. I think this ambiguity can work since it looks like there isn't enough information on Mitra from the Codex alone for Mitra to require an article? Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 03:47, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
- Having gone back through Valhalla's mentions of Mithras I’d say that while more prominent being the in the name of two mandatory locations I’d say it’s actually less significant than the appearance of Mithra in AC II given that one’s implications.
