Talk:Cards (Roleplaying Game)
Formatting[edit source]
So three issues:
First being, any thoughts on just the basic formatting trying to adapt how it appears in the app to this article? Of specific notes are togglable fields like snags and synch percentage and fillable fields like notepad (very nebulous) or skills and POE (more structured).
Second, the modern day character "cards" are called Character Files. Should that be it's own article given that Witness (these are also sometimes called files but are specifically shown as cards in the QuickStart Guide), Skill, and Piece of Eden cards are placed on top of said character files?
Third, some of the gear names are assumedly tweaked for "legally distinct" reasons. Should we adhere to this or use the corresponding IRL products ie Kawasaki instead of Sakikawa?Lacrossedeamon (talk) 10:51, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
- On the gear stuff, we should adhere to the names used by the game, but we can always link to the actual IRL products. On the separation of the pages, I'd wait until the game actually releases for that discussion. I'll see what I can do with the formatting. - Soranin (talk) 14:29, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
Quotes[edit source]
So a lot of the character quotes are drawn from other sources, some of them real world. I have been just putting who said it if it's not original to that character or is a specific reference to something, but I am wondering if we should be more granular? If the quote is from a specific work link to that rather than the author or if the quote is from previous AC media link to that down to memory level if possible. In this format the Jackie Magpie quote would link to the memory rather than to Anne Bonny directly. Thoughts? Lacrossedeamon (talk) 10:48, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Seems OK to me. Myself, I noticed even without your linking that the Black Cross quote is actually from in the Templars comic series, which, unless I'm misremembering, I don't believe has the Cross during WWII like how the RPG suggests. – Darman (talk) 14:05, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- André Bolden, dressed in Berg's Black Cross outfit, says it during Uprising's second issue. – Soranin (talk) 14:38, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Well this has him in WWI but I'm not sure this is supposed to be Albert Bolden, looks white to me. I guess that is something to discuss. But I think I will go with the change. Memories where applicable, broader media when not, works over authors, attributions when all else fails. But either way the current link is wrong as Jhonnies pointed out. - Oops, I double-pressed the ⟨I⟩. Yeah, I remembered that scene, just hadn't said the specifics. Even aside skin tone, it's definitely not Bolden because so far as we know, he began in '27, when WWI was long over and the Great Depression was about to start. It could be simply that the artists did a design separate from the quote, while the card devs just picked a line that sounded cool outside its context. – Darman (talk) 15:00, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- I don’t think anything in the comic implies that was Bolden’s first mission in 1927, on the contrary it felt like he was well versed. I think the memories in the WWI time frame of the ACRPG are set in 1917 and 1923 so not unreasonable and we have yet to decide if all six were present for each scenario. And it would be very unlikely that the line was picked without context of it being said by a Black Cross, whether a descendant or not. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 15:18, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

Sourced quotes that aren't just memories from games:
- Yu Shu Lien - Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil
- Romulus - common Latin saying, no known providence
- Hosto - technically in Sayings of the Spartans by Plutarch collected in Moralia but attributed Agis II
- The Vulture - Heraclitus but not a specific work
- Eivor - I can't find the specific memory
- Maria Thorpe - Might be Revelations novelization or The Secret Crusade if the latter do we link IU or OOU?
- Snips - just the maxim; character seems to be an Ahsoka reference though
- The Almasty - The quote from the unnamed Mongolian Assassin card in Assassin's Creed Memories not sure if it was ever used as actual dialogue given we don't have the best records of it
- Shao Jun - again can't find the exact memory, might be transmedia
- The Mask - Alexander Pope's An Essay on Man
- Fenghuang - line from Kill Bill
- The Crouching Tiger - line from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
- Wokou Hunter - Thích Nhất Hạnh's The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching which does not have it's own WP page
- Dakodonou - linked the avatar but could accept an argument for the multiplayer in general
- Jackie Magpie - this is a weird one cause the line is IRL attributed to Anne Bonny but not shown in game, linked IU rather than OOU but could see this causing confusion; image is concept art of Rhona Dismore
- Aveline - seems to have just been part of the trailer for the game not in the game itself, linked the IU version
- Calamity Mily - linked the avatar but could accept an argument for the multiplayer in general
- Gilbert du Motier - seems to be floating conversation but first becomes accessible in Missing Supplies
- Alsoomse- linked the avatar but could accept an argument for the multiplayer in general
- Elise - I know its the letter Price but I want to make actual database pages for them and then use transclusions for the Letters page
- Mousquetaire Noir - Alexandre Dumas's The Three Musketeers, there is also a biography of Dumas title The Black Musketeer (Mousquetaire Noir); image is art of Angélique Chevrier
- Jacob Frye - seems to be actual ambient dialogue but wondering if we can link the first memory carriages are featured or tutorialed
- Evie Frye- can't find specific memory
- Bram Stoker - line from Dracula
- Van Helsing - line from Dracula
- Ernest Hemingway - line from a 1926 letter to F Scott Fitzgerald, linked a published collection of Hemingway's letters
- Preeti Kaur - motto of the Sikh Regiment
- Evelyn O'Connel - her line from The Mummy
- Black Cross - Uprising issue 2 from Albie Bolden impersonating Berg in modern day; can't tell if Albert Bolden
- Nancy Wake/Lee Miller/Josephine Baker - known quotes from them but no specific works citable; left unlinked
Anything else unlinked I think is completely original or so cliche to as be uncitable. Any oppositions to the links? Lacrossedeamon (talk) 10:07, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
