Necessary?[edit source]

I've considered and put off making this article myself as I'm not convinced it's necessary. Given that the article covers such an abstract and intangible topic with such limited scope for expansion, I do believe we're better off sticking to wikilinks whenever the word pops up in our articles. --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 23:30, March 21, 2018 (UTC)

I would actually make an article on Egyptian religion and put this under there. I know that we've never made articles on religions, and I can understand why, but I don't think we can deny that religion does have relevance to the narratives of this series given the settings where Christianity, Islam, and Greek and Egyptian religions receive a lot of mention. It might be a bit hard to write about them and care should definitely be taken to ensure they're not controversial; they don't have to go too deep into their actual theologies, just whatever information can largely be derived just from the games themselves Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 01:26, March 22, 2018 (UTC)
These are my two cents: I actually made the article because the Ba are NPC's in the newest DLC, The Curse of the Pharaohs. I figured they should get an article like the rest of the animals. I know they're not animals, but gameplay wise they are treated as such. Dropping animal goods etc. Gameplay wise they're the same as vultures by the way, just with a different visual look. Ah, that's a valid point. I have not played Curse of the Pharaohs yet, so I was not aware of this. In this light, the Ba might merit its own article. However, the Egyptians believed that there were 5 parts to a soul, with the Ba only being one of them. It might be uneven or poor organization for the Ba to have its own article as though it were more significant than the other 4 parts, such as the Ka which is heavily mentioned throughout the main game. I'd be fine if both Ba and Ka have their own main articles, but not only one or the other. Either way, we still need an article on Egyptian religion that mentions them. I think the question, then, would be whether we have enough information on Ba and Ka for them to warrant their own articles. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 23:19, March 22, 2018 (UTC)
The Ka and Ib/Jb appear as quest items. There are at least two missions where you have to follow a Ren. The Shadows of the Pharaoh (and possibly Anubis) are Sheut but I don’t think it is ever explicitly mentioned (the Ramesses questline requires gathering the parts of the soul). The Khat of Apep makes an appearance. Not sure if the Akh is ever mentioned though. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 00:54, March 23, 2018 (UTC)
Since both the "Ba" and "Ka" are the basis of certain plot point throughout the game's story (and since the Ba are given physical and interactable form in CoTP), then I concede that an article is warranted. I do, however, think it makes the most sense to have an article entitled "Ba and Ka" which references both. I'm also unsure if a wider article on the Egyptian religion is warranted; a category that links the various articles we already have should be sufficient. --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 08:50, March 23, 2018 (UTC)
Just adding my grain of salt: I've published "Ba" on the French wiki under an "Egyptian mythology" category. "Egyptian deities" is a subcategory of the latter. — Touloir, French AC and TES wikias admin 18:53, March 23, 2018 (UTC)
