"Welcome, then, to the Achaia shipbuilding symposium, and to the glorious future of Greek shipbuilding!"
―Parmys[src]-[m]

The Shipbuilding symposium was a symposium held during the 420s BCE at the Patrai amphitheater in Patrai, Achaia, Greece.

An event to celebrate the successes of shipbuilding as well as to discuss its future, the symposium was attended by Gyras, a Patrean naval engineer, out of interest and the fact that his wife, Parmys held a speech at the symposium. Unfortunately, the symposium was cut short as Megakreon, a member of the Order of the Storm branch of the Order of the Ancients, assaulted Gyras and killed him, and was soon after slain himself by the Spartan misthios Kassandra and the Persian Darius.[1]
