Seer's Hut

The Seer's Hut was the home of the Raven Clan's seer Valka in the clan's settlement of Ravensthorpe in Ledecestrescire, Mercia.
History[edit | edit source]
Upon her arrival in Ravensthorpe in 873, Valka was aided by her friend and fellow clanswoman, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir, to move her belongings into a tent.[1] The tent was later renovated into a complete building by Eivor. Needing help with her visions of Odin, Eivor asked Valka for guidance. Valka accepted and began with the use of elixirs.[2] Within the hut, Eivor drank the elixirs and relived the memories of Odin's travels through the Nine Realms, especially his time in Ásgarðr,[2][3] Jötunheimr,[4] Svartálfaheimr,[5] and Niflheimr.[6]
By 874, the Norseman Geirmund Hel-hide was a guest in Ravensthorpe and was led by the Hidden One Hytham to the seer's hut, as Geirmund wanted to speak with a seer about his fate. Meeting Valka, Geirmund was told that the notions of betrayal and surrender still resided in his fate. However, he was also told that he had the tools to defy them. Valka then informed him that he had a battle within himself like Eivor, before the Hel-hide thanked her for her advice and left.[7]
In 878, Valka was working within her hut when she was unexpectedly visited by Niamh of Argyll, who asked for help to rescue kidnapped women from a nunnery run by the Order of the Ancients. Learning that the women there were mistreated and would need medical aid, Valka readied herself and left to accompany Niamh to the nunnery.[8] After their mission went awry, Valka returned home with a young girl who had been saved from the Order's grasp.[9]
Later, Niamh, following her theft of Excalibur from Eivor, returned to the hut to see Valka. Bloodied and poisoned, Niamh asked for help as Valka demanded to know the reason behind her betrayal. Niamh told the truth and, after hearing her reasoning, Valka agreed to help. As Niamh rested, Valka contacted Hytham for further assistance and to discuss Niamh's betrayal.[10]
A day passed as Hytham and Niamh debated why Niamh was still alive within the hut. While Valka explained Niamh's reasoning, the witch-warrior interrupted the conversation, revealing that the Descendants of the Round Table had sent soldiers after her and warning her allies to hide. Outside the hut, Niamh began to fight against the soldiers alone, only for Hytham to step in and defeat them alongside Niamh. After the fight, Niamh and Hytham hashed out their differences as Valka offered a solution to resolve the hunt for Excalibur. Together, the three concocted a plan to burn a fake Excalibur while Niamh took the real sword to Avalon.[11] After a day of rest, Niamh met with Valka as they prepared themselves for the façade of a lifetime.[12]
