Nimue
Nimue was a warrior who hailed from the islands north of Caledonia. One of her ancestors was a member of the Roman Hidden Ones stationed in Britannia.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Circa 878, the British Hidden Ones sent Nimue an invitation to join them, though this message was intercepted by the Women of the Mist from Avalon before Nimue could receive it. Nimue's invitation was given to Niamh of Argyll, who posed as Nimue in order to infiltrate the Hidden Ones and to learn about their motives.[1] After a period of time, Niamh revealed to both Valka[2] and the Hidden One Hytham that Nimue never received the letter as the Women of the Mist asked Niamh to take her place.[3]
Personality and traits[edit | edit source]
In the Hidden Ones' recruitment letter, they described Nimue as being "as cunning as the fox and as silent as the adder."[1]
Skills and equipment[edit | edit source]
The British Hidden Ones also noted in their letter that they saw in Nimue "the fierceness of the wolf and the speed of the rabbit".[1] Her swordsmanship and stealth abilities were advanced enough to warrant the organization's attention.[4]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Nimue is a character mentioned in the 2022 novel Assassin's Creed: Valhalla – Sword of the White Horse written by Elsa Sjunneson. She shares her name with the Lady of the Lake character featured heavily in many Arthurian legends, first spelled that way by the 15th century English author Thomas Malory in his 1485 chivalric romance prose work Le Morte d'Arthur.
