Proppa was an Anglo-Saxon woman from Grantebridgescire during the 9th century in England. She was the wife of the master archer Degolas and mother to their son.
Biography[edit | edit source]
In the year 873, her home was visited by the Viking Shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir who had heard her complaints about their home's putrid stench. Eivor cleansed their home of the foul odor originating from cow dung. Proppa and Degolas' son, explained the bizarre practices of his father, a famous archer who never washed. After Eivor had followed their son to her husband, and caused a platform collapse into a pond which cleansed Degolas, the family rejoiced at the newfound cleanliness, and Proppa expressed gratitude for the stranger's intervention.[1]
