Degolas was an Anglo-Saxon man from Grantebridgescire during the 9th century in England. He was the husband of Proppa and mother to their son.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In the year 873, Degolas, perched high on a platform over the foul pond, remained steadfast in his commitment to his unique practices, despite the unpleasant stench surrounding him. The arrival of the Viking Shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir, a stranger willing to cleanse their home, prompted a confrontation initiated by his determined son. As Eivor shot the platform, Degolas found himself submerged in the pond, stripping away his mud-coat and sacred warrior layer. Though resistant to the cleansing, Degolas eventually emerged, realizing the strange feeling of cleanliness. As Proppa and their son celebrated the transformation, Degolas contemplated the change, uncertain about the impact on his identity as a warrior.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Degolas is a character introduced in the 2020 video game, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. Cleverly named as a playful homage to Legolas, a character from J. R. R. Tolkien's iconic The Lord of the Rings series.
