Aelfred's Jewel also known as just the Alfred Jewel was a piece of jewelry that was commissioned by Alfred the Great in the late 800s. Around the same time, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir resolved a conflict between Alfred's liaison and the jeweler over payment for the work.[1]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Aelfred's Jewel is an extant historic piece of art that despite being accurately identified in dialogue is depicted as just a large ruby in the menu. If Eivor decides to keep it and sell it later, it is only valued at 61 silver, a paltry sum for so valuable and intricate a piece of goldsmithing.
