Aelfred's Jewel also known as just the Alfred Jewel was a piece of jewelry that was commissioned by Alfred the Great in the late 800s. Around the same time, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir resolved a conflict between Alfred's liaison and the jeweler over payment for the work.

Behind the scenes

Aelfred's Jewel is an extant historic piece of art that despite being accurately identified in dialogue is depicted as just a large ruby in the menu. If Eivor decides to keep it and sell it later, it is only valued at 61 silver, a paltry sum for so valuable and intricate a piece of goldsmithing.
